Carlsen’s History
Carlsen’s Food is a company from 1930. The first horseradish sprout was sown when Grocer Hans Aage Carlsen started selling horseradish in the capital.
In 1966, the production moved to Funen to get close to the farmers.
Today, our factory is still located in Haarby on Funen.
Aage Carlsen – also called “Horseradish-Carlsen” – was educated as a Grocer. He quickly developed a love for horseradish and saw many opportunities in the root.
With the move to Haarby and with horseradish on the fields around the factory, Aage Carlsen had paved the way for a modern production.
Horseradish is a crop that requires a lot of handling. The horseradish itself forms many side shoots, and these must be broken apart and sorted. Both the horseradish and the side shoots can be used.
The production is still located in the historic setting in Haarby on Funen – with fresh air and fields around us.
Here we can focus on maintaining and developing the company, and at the same time stay calm and rooted.
